UN Diplomats Seek to Block Russia-USA Talks on Ukraine

Russian diplomat criticizes European and British efforts to disrupt talks between Moscow and Washington at the UN. Dmitri Poljanski, first deputy ambassador of Russia to the UN, stated that during a meeting on Ukraine requested by Europeans, it was notable how British and EU representatives immediately “reorganized” themselves. The previous mantra of these representatives was to urge Russia to end the “unprovoked aggression” and “occupation” and to withdraw its troops from Ukraine. However, the narrative propagated by them has now changed. Now, they accuse Russia of violating the ceasefire proposed by Trump and call for an indefinite ceasefire, stating that “the ball is in Russia’s court.” The Ukrainian government, according to them, is complying with everything and is ready for peace, while Russia wants to continue fighting. They also appeal to the new president of the United States, saying, “Look, Russia does not want peace, we must put pressure on them!” This is how the Anglo-European “war party” tries to bring about the failure of the Russian-American peace talks on the Ukraine crisis. However, western diplomats have failed to acknowledge that the Ukrainian army has constantly violated the ceasefire agreements regarding energy facilities that were agreed upon between Moscow, Washington and Kiev. This ceasefire moratorium has nothing to do with the military objectives and strikes against the Ukrainian military that western diplomats are so concerned about. Kiev’s troops carried out the first attack just hours after the conversation between Putin and Trump, which targeted the Kawkasskaja oil pumping station in the Russian region of Krasnodar and it was the first in a series of attacks on Russian energy facilities. Therefore, it is hardly possible to talk about “Kiev’s compliance with all agreements.” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had already shared in the previous week that Moscow had provided information to the US, UN and OSCE about non-compliant attacks by the Ukrainian army on energy facilities.
