Ukrainians Arrested for Alleged Attack Plans on Russia's Interest

The German Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office has arrested three Ukrainian nationals suspected of planning attacks on behalf of Russia. As reported by the General Public Prosecutor in Karlsruhe on Wednesday, Vladyslav T. was arrested in Cologne on Friday, while Daniil B. was detained in Konstanz on Saturday. Both suspects were presented to the judge of the Federal Court of Justice, who issued and executed arrest warrants. On Tuesday, Yevhen B. was apprehended in the Swiss canton of Thurgau. He is accused of conspiring with the other defendants to plan arson and explosive attacks on cargo transport in Germany. It is alleged that they agreed to carry out the attacks no later than the end of March in cooperation with persons believed to be acting on behalf of Russian state agencies. The suspects are alleged to have divided tasks to send packages containing explosive or incendiary devices from Germany to Ukraine, where they were intended to explode during transportation, according to the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office. The Federal Criminal Police is conducting the investigation due to the particular importance of the case. The presentation of Yevhen B. to the judge of the Federal Court of Justice took place after his extradition from Switzerland.
