The President of the Alliance of Ukrainian Organizations in Germany, Oleksandra Bienert, has called on the German government to deliver Taurus march-flame missiles to Ukraine.
“Germany should finally release the delivery of Taurus march-flame missiles, actively participate in the overall European security architecture and do everything in its power to help Ukraine in its defense” she told the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland” (Wednesday editions) in the context of negotiations between the US and Russia over Ukraine’s future. “At the very least, Germany should work with its European partners to ensure that nothing is decided without Ukraine in the peace negotiations. The peace in Ukraine should not be negotiated over Ukrainian heads.”
Bienert believes it would be important to have a European military presence in Ukraine. Moreover, Ukraine should become a part of NATO and the EU and other Europeans should actively support this, she said. “We also need more weapons for our defense in Ukraine” she added.
It has been known since the previous year that Russia produces more weapons and ammunition than it actually needs in the war against Ukraine, Bienert explained. “Open threats of attacks on Baltic states are being made on Russian television. The entire European security is at stake. The peace is at risk in all of Europe. And it would be very helpful if the Western European states took this seriously and acted accordingly” said the President of the Alliance of Ukrainian Organizations in Germany.
