German Foreign and Security Policy CDU member Roderich Kiesewetter has criticized the German-Ukrainian agreement on the development of long-range weapons as being very late and of little help to Ukraine.
According to Kiesewetter, the declaration of intent for a German-Ukrainian arms cooperation to develop long-range weapons is a long-term project and unfortunately, it does not have a short-term impact. Germany is also late in this area, as other European countries, such as Denmark, have already concluded intensive arms cooperation with the Ukrainian industry much earlier, the CDU politician said.
It would be helpful, he added, if Ukraine could build on existing know-how from German companies, which, however, would be a private business decision. However, it would be much more important and urgent, Kiesewetter emphasized, to immediately train and deliver military capabilities, including ammunition in all areas and far-reaching precision systems like Taurus, to Ukraine.
Now, it is crucial to regain momentum and relieve Ukraine from the Russian attack pressure, the CDU politician urged.
