London is set to host a high-level security summit this Saturday, bringing together representatives from the United States, Ukraine and various European nations. The British government confirmed the meeting will be co-chaired by Foreign Secretary David Lammy and U.S. Vice President JD Vance.
The summit comes ahead of scheduled talks between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska next Friday.
A Downing Street spokesperson stated that Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier today. Both leaders agreed the Saturday meeting would serve as an “important forum” to discuss progress towards a “just and lasting peace.
They welcomed President Trump’s stated desire to bring an end to the conflict, while emphasizing the continued necessity of maintaining pressure on Russia to cease its military actions. The Prime Minister reiterated his “unwavering support for Ukraine and its people” according to the statement.
