Two-State Solution Gains New Hope

Two-State Solution Gains New Hope

German officials are expressing hope that a high-level conference, jointly hosted by France and Saudi Arabia, convening in New York, will reinvigorate efforts toward a two-state solution in the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Florian Hahn (CSU) emphasized the importance of the conference ahead of his departure for New York on Monday. He stated that a two-state solution remains the internationally recognized pathway to a lasting resolution, offering the potential for a future of peace, security and dignity for both Palestinians and Israelis. Hahn will participate in Monday and Tuesday’s events with the stated goal of generating renewed momentum for this approach.

The State Secretary indicated that Germany will be presenting its own strategies and contributions focused on implementing the two-state solution, consistently prioritizing the security of Israel. He also highlighted the necessity of developing a new security architecture for the Gaza region and formulating concrete “day-after” scenarios following any potential conflict resolution.

Underlying these efforts, Hahn stressed, is the essential condition of the unconditional release of all hostages, the laying down of weapons by all parties and the relinquishment of any future claims to power by Hamas.
