A reported machete attack took place in the city center of Herten in the Ruhr region on Saturday afternoon, shortly after 4 pm. Initially, the Hertener Allgemeine and RTL reported on the incident. The exact nature of the weapon used is still unknown, but the police in Recklinghausen are describing the incident as a serious bodily harm.
According to initial information, two men suffered severe injuries in the attack, with the extent of the danger to their lives still unclear. Both are currently being treated in a hospital.
A third man has been taken into custody, according to the police in Recklinghausen, but it is unclear whether this individual is the suspected perpetrator. The incident occurred in front of the Europa Café on Ewaldstraße in the city center of Herten.
