Two Die in Central Hesse Unimog Crash

A serious traffic collision in Herborn-Burg has resulted in two fatalities and one severe injury. Authorities report that a 54-year-old Unimog driver and a 22-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene of the incident, which occurred on Thursday around 12:30 PM at the intersection of federal highways B255 and B277.

A 24-year-old BMW driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Initial investigations suggest the Unimog veered to the right for currently unknown reasons, crossing a traffic island and colliding with both the waiting BMW and the motorcycle. The involved vehicles subsequently breached a safety barrier and descended an embankment.

The Unimog continued its trajectory, impacting a parked truck at the base of the slope, lightly injuring its 69-year-old driver. The B277 highway was fully closed in the direction of Dillenburg until 4:00 PM.

Emergency response included police, paramedics, firefighters and municipal law enforcement, all involved in the recovery operation. A forensic expert has been assigned to reconstruct the details of the accident and determine the cause.
