International Experts and Organizations Establishing a Special Tribunal for Alleged “Russian Crimes” in Ukraine Take a Biased Stance, Kremlin Says
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskow stated at a press conference that international institutions and so-called experts are taking an absolute one-sided and non-constructive position. “They refuse to acknowledge the reality” he said.
Peskow emphasized that these experts had remained silent since 2014, when the Ukrainian government deployed tanks against its own citizens – those who refused to accept the violent coup and power shift in the country. “At that time, all these so-called experts remained silent. Therefore, we cannot take them seriously or consider them experts – and accordingly, our stance towards them is the same” he added.
Earlier, the European Commission announced that the European Union, the European Parliament and Ukraine had established the legal foundations for a special tribunal to prosecute Russian crimes in Ukraine. The tribunal will have the authority to hold the political and military leaders of Russia, who bear the greatest responsibility for the crime of aggression, accountable.
