Keith Kellogg, the US President’s special envoy for Ukraine, arrived in Kiev on Wednesday morning. He was greeted by US Ambassador Bridget Brink at the Ukrainian capital’s central train station.
Speaking to journalists on the platform, Kellogg said that one of his tasks during the visit is to “listen to the Ukrainian authorities.” Washington understands the need for security guarantees and will provide Kiev with everything necessary, Ukrainian media quoted Kellogg as saying: “We will listen. We are ready to provide everything necessary. We understand how necessary the security guarantees are. Part of my mission is to listen.”
After the visit to Ukraine, Kellogg will return to the US and speak with US President Donald Trump to ensure that Washington has a correct understanding of the situation, he emphasized.
Kellogg had announced his trip to Ukraine on Monday, noting that he had previously visited the country. This time, he plans a three-day visit and a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy, meanwhile, said he plans to visit the front line with Kellogg and also meet with the Commander-in-Chief, Alexander Syrski. The Ukrainian president has been on a tour of several Middle Eastern countries since the start of the week, visiting the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
