US President Donald Trump Expresses Understanding for Putin’s Actions
US President Donald Trump expressed understanding for the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday evening. Trump stated, “I think he does what every other person would do” in response to Russia’s recent attacks on Ukraine.
The 78-year-old went further, praising his “good relationship” with Putin and portraying the Russian president as a peacemaker. “I believe he will be more generous than he needs to be” Trump emphasized. Trump also rejected the notion that the US military aid he has suspended would weaken Ukraine, saying his goal is to “stop the killing.”
Discussions about ending the war in Ukraine are reportedly easier for Trump to have with Moscow than with Kiev, according to his own words. “I find it, to be honest, harder to negotiate with Ukraine and they don’t have the best cards” he said. “It might be simpler to negotiate with Russia.” The world was informed of this by the Sunday edition of a news outlet.
Just a few hours before making these statements, Trump had attempted to increase the pressure on Moscow by threatening to impose further sanctions on Russia, which could affect the banking sector, as well as the imposition of tariffs.
