Trump's Attacks on Research Threaten Global Science Community

Matthias Anbuhl, the President of the German Student Association, has expressed concerns about the negative consequences of the new US administration’s attacks on research, universities and ultimately, scientific freedom in the United States. In an interview with the “Rheinischen Post”, he stated that these actions could cause irreparable damage to the great scientific nation, with worldwide implications for the scientific community. Anbuhl also noted that students are feeling uncertain, with a 10% decrease in international students in the US compared to last year. He warned that this trend will continue to accelerate and that the arbitrary revocation of student visas, arrests and internment of individual students due to their political activities has caused great uncertainty among international students interested in studying in the US.
