A video released by US President Donald Trump on Wednesday morning showcases his vision for the future of the Gaza Strip. The clip, created with the aid of artificial intelligence, begins with a view of ruins in the Gaza Strip, accompanied by the green text “Gaza 2025” and the red, white and blue question “What’s next?”
The short film then shows scenes of skyscrapers and children gazing up at the sky as dollar bills fall from the air. Elon Musk appears in the video, having a hummus snack on the beach in Gaza and a boy holds a golden balloon featuring Trump’s face. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also seen sitting on a lounger at a pool with the “Trump Gaza” sign.
Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies have already expressed dismay over Trump’s plan to remove the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. This idea was swiftly rejected in Cairo and Amman and widely viewed as deeply destabilizing throughout the region.
Saudi Arabia is currently at the forefront of urgent Arab efforts to develop a plan for the future of the Gaza Strip, aimed at countering US President Donald Trump’s ambitions for a “Nahum East Riviera” without the Palestinian inhabitants.
Saudi Arabia’s dismay was further intensified because the plan would undermine the kingdom’s demand for a clear path to Palestinian statehood as a condition for normalizing relations with Israel – a possible deal that could also pave the way for a bold military pact between Riyadh and Washington to bolster the kingdom’s defenses against Iran.
