A telephone call between the designated US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to take place in the coming days and weeks, according to the new US National Security Adviser, Michael Waltz.
The potential call could serve as a foundation for further negotiations and a personal meeting between Trump and Putin, Waltz told ABC News on Sunday. There is no set framework for this yet, but work is being done on it.
Earlier, Trump had said that a meeting with Putin was being prepared. Moscow has repeatedly signalled its willingness to communicate with the new US President, but has yet to provide specific details on when or where the meeting would take place.
