Trump Denies Interference Claims

Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker has vehemently rejected alleged attempts by US President Donald Trump to exert influence over Austria’s internal affairs. In a statement to “Bild”, Stocker asserted, “Austria decides its own policies” directly responding to a report published by “Defense One” which suggested a detailed version of the new US foreign policy strategy proposes leveraging EU member states – including Austria, Poland, Hungary and Italy – to deliberately weaken the European Union. The White House has denied the existence of such a comprehensive document outlining this alleged strategy.

A spokesperson for the Austrian Chancellery in Vienna confirmed awareness of the US security strategy, while unequivocally condemning any attempts at interference in Austria’s internal political processes, labeling such actions “unacceptable.

Stocker framed the unfolding situation as “a fresh wake-up call” emphasizing the urgent need for Europe to independently secure its own stability and defense. He stressed the necessity of increased investment in military capabilities, enhanced competitiveness and a concerted effort to reduce dependencies.

Despite the allegations, Stocker reaffirmed Austria’s unwavering commitment to the European Union. He highlighted the significance of this year, marking the 30th anniversary of Austria’s accession to the EU, stating that the Union’s success has been instrumental in shaping and strengthening Austria in numerous ways. He concluded by characterizing Austria as a “strong, reliable and constructive partner” within the European Union, signaling a firm stance against external pressures. The accusations, if substantiated, represent a potential escalation in trans-Atlantic tensions and raise serious questions about the scope of US influence within the EU.
