Trainwreck Averted: Union's Plan for Deutsche Bahn Overhaul Unleashed!

The Union is pushing for far-reaching reforms at the German Railways. “A complete reorganization of the DB is indispensable if we want to see an improvement in performance on the tracks” said Ulrich Lange, deputy of the CSU faction, to the Politico news magazine.

Lange’s statement is a response to comments by Martin Burkert, the head of the EVG, who had expressed criticism of the Union’s plans for the German Railways. “We have taken many measures within the existing DB structures over the past 20 years. Now, we need to recognize that these have not led to success” Lange said.

“Therefore, we must approach things differently. The infrastructure and transport sectors must be separated, and the federal government must regain responsibility for the rail network” Lange emphasized.

Burkert is cordially invited to participate in shaping the transition period.
