Tragic Accident Near Freiburg Claims Lives of Two Children and an Adult

On Saturday evening, a severe traffic accident occurred on the B3/B31 near Freiburg, resulting in the deaths of three people, including two children. According to the Freiburg police, a 46-year-old driver, along with six other passengers, collided with a truck parked on a parking lot after the exit towards Besanconallee. The impact caused the car to catch fire.

Several first responders managed to rescue the seven occupants from the burning vehicle. The arriving emergency services provided medical treatment to the injured, but a 27-year-old man and a six-year-old child succumbed to their severe injuries at the scene. A 13-year-old child later died in a hospital. The remaining injured were flown to nearby clinics by rescue helicopters.

The exact cause of the accident is still unclear. The police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Freiburg have initiated investigations. The estimated damage amounts to several thousand euros. The B3/B31 was fully closed for over an hour, with a local diversion in place.
