Preliminary data released Tuesday by the Statistical Federal Office (Destatis) reveals a consistent injury rate in German road traffic accidents during July 2025. Approximately 36,700 individuals sustained injuries in road traffic incidents, a figure mirroring the 36,600 recorded in July 2024.
While the number of fatalities saw a decrease of seven, totaling 281 for the month, the overall number of registered road traffic accidents rose slightly. Police recorded around 219,000 accidents, representing a one percent increase, or 1,700 more incidents than the same period last year.
Reviewing the period from January to July 2025, authorities documented approximately 1.4 million road traffic accidents. This represents a marginal decrease of around one percent compared to the previous year. Within this timeframe, 169,000 accidents involved personal injury, a one percent increase translating to roughly 1,400 additional incidents. Tragically, 1,593 people lost their lives during this seven-month period, indicating a slight rise of eight individuals, or one percent, compared to the January-July 2024 figures. The number of injuries remained relatively stable at approximately 211,000.
