A forthcoming report by the Federal Police Ombudsman, Uli Grötsch, is expected to place a significant emphasis on the issue of sexual harassment within the federal police force. According to Grötsch, he believes that state institutions, including the police, have a unique responsibility in addressing this problem.
Grötsch expressed his expectations for the police authorities, stating that he wants to see a zero-tolerance policy towards sexism and sexual harassment, effectively implemented from the top leadership of the institutions. However, he acknowledged that there is a need for improvement in this regard.
Notably, Grötsch views sexism and sexual harassment as a broader societal issue, rather than a problem exclusive to the police force. He emphasized that these issues have no place in the police or in society as a whole. The Federal Police Ombudsman is set to present his annual report in late June.
