A leading passenger advocacy group is criticizing potential plans by federal and state transport ministers, who are expected to meet in Munich this Thursday, regarding the Deutschlandticket. Pro Bahn, the passenger organization, alleges that proposed price increases would represent a broken promise to riders.
According to Verbandschef Detlef Neuß, speaking to the “Rheinische Post”, a price point of 62 euros would be excessive at this stage. Neuß expressed concern that a price hike would contradict assurances of price stability offered by politicians for the coming years, potentially leading many Deutschlandticket holders to abandon the scheme. He warned that such an outcome could ultimately negate the impact of the increase.
Discussions reportedly indicate that transport ministers are considering implementing a price increase effective January 1, 2026. Proposed figures currently being debated range between 62 and 64 euros per month, an increase from the current price of 58 euros for the nationwide ticket.
