Frankfurt Prosecutors Arrest Three More Suspects in Connection with Hauptbahnhof Shooting
The Frankfurt State Prosecution has arrested three more suspects in connection with the fatal shootings at Frankfurt’s main station in August 2024. According to an announcement by the authorities on Tuesday, the men, aged 33, 28 and 28, were apprehended in Lahr and Breisach, in the state of Baden-Württemberg. The searches of three of the suspects’ properties aimed to secure further evidence.
The alleged shooter, a 55-year-old Turkish national, had shot a 27-year-old countryman on platform 9 on August 20, 2023. A family feud is believed to have been the background to the incident. In December 2024, four other suspects had already been arrested.
The newly apprehended men, two Germans and one Turkish national, are accused of playing different roles in the crime. A 33-year-old is suspected of having coordinated the attack, a 28-year-old Turkish national allegedly planned an attack in Mainz, had the victim been found there. A 28-year-old German is being investigated for conspiring to commit a crime.
