In a recent interview, German politician Luke Hoß, the youngest member of the current Bundestag at 23, expressed his concerns that the government is neglecting the interests of young people. Hoß, a member of the Left, emphasized the need for a politics that truly addresses the needs of young people, contrasting this with the approach of the Union and SPD, which he believes only cater to the interests of older generations.

When asked about the possibility of cooperation between the Left and the Union, Hoß expressed skepticism, citing a deep-seated incompatibility. He stated that the Union’s leaders, such as Friedrich Merz, have a disdain for the Left and the people they represent. However, Hoß left the door open for potential cooperation, emphasizing that the Left must not compromise its ideals to achieve a common goal, such as abolishing the debt brake. If a vote with the Union could bring about positive change for the people, the Left would be willing to work together.

In a related matter, Hoß revealed that he did not congratulate Friedrich Merz on his election as Chancellor, as he believes Merz represents a politics of social coldness, exemplified by his private jet use. Hoß made it clear that he would not have congratulated a leader who embodies the values he rejects.
