Washington Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Including a German National
In a tragic incident, two people, including a German national, were shot dead in Washington, D.C., on the night of Wednesday, according to German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, who confirmed the news in the Bundestag on Thursday morning. The information was initially reported by the German newspaper “Tagesspiegel”.
The German national, identified as Yaron Lischinsky, was a staff member of the Israeli Embassy in Washington and an active member of the Israel-German Society. Lischinsky, who was born in Nürnberg, Germany, reportedly moved to Israel at the age of 16. He also founded the “Young Forum” in the Israel-German Society in 2021.
Meanwhile, a suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting, the Washington D.C. police announced. The alleged perpetrator is a 30-year-old man from Chicago and authorities believe the attack was carried out by a single individual.
