The Shocking Truth About Classroom Tech!

Digital Technologies Now Standard in Teachers’ Rooms, Survey Finds

According to a recent survey, digital technologies have become the norm in teachers’ rooms, with 95% of teachers having access to a computer, notebook, or tablet. The survey, published on Wednesday, revealed that six out of ten teachers can use a stationary PC, while 80% have a mobile working device. More than half of the respondents possess a tablet and 43% own a personal notebook. However, a rare exception is the school-issued smartphone, with only 11% of teachers receiving one from their employer to organize matters related to school life. In contrast, nearly all teachers (96%) still receive paper and pens from their employer.

The survey, conducted in mid-2024 among 502 teachers of secondary stages I and II, provides insight into the current digital landscape in German classrooms.
