DWS’ Klaus Kaldemorgen to Step Down as Co-Fund Manager of Concept Kaldemorgen Fund

Klaus Kaldemorgen, the 71-year-old co-fund manager of the DWS’ flagship product, Concept Kaldemorgen, has announced his intention to step down from his role in the near future. In an exclusive interview with the Handelsblatt, Kaldemorgen revealed that he will be relinquishing his responsibilities as co-fund manager, with Christoph Schmidt set to take over the sole responsibility for the fund.

The Concept Kaldemorgen fund currently manages a substantial €14.5 billion in assets and Kaldemorgen has been managing the mixed-fund alongside Schmidt since 2022. The transition period is reportedly well underway, with the two managers working in tandem to ensure a smooth handover.

When asked about the exact timing of his departure, Kaldemorgen remained non-committal, stating that the decision has not been finalized and that he would not be making a definitive announcement for at least a month. However, he did hint at the possibility of remaining involved with the fund in a different capacity, saying that his exit from the dual management structure does not necessarily mean he will have no further involvement with the fund.

The potential for Kaldemorgen to maintain a role within the fund, albeit in a different capacity, has left the door open for speculation about his future plans. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his exact departure date, it is clear that the DWS is preparing for a new era of leadership for the Concept Kaldemorgen fund.
