Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Arrests Four Teenagers for Alleged Bomb Plot in Yekaterinburg
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has reportedly arrested four teenagers, all Russian citizens born in 2007 and 2008, on suspicion of planning a bomb explosion at a crowded location in the city of Yekaterinburg. According to the FSB’s statement, the suspects are believed to be affiliated with a banned terrorist organization, but the name of the group was not disclosed.
The FSB released a video showing the arrest and statements of the suspects, but did not provide the exact location and time of the arrest. The agency also stated that two of the teenagers were involved in an earlier incident, where a police car was set on fire.
During a search of the suspects’ homes, the FSB found components for a homemade bomb, bomb-making instructions, and communication devices. The agency said it was still searching for additional evidence.
Russia’s Investigative Committee has confirmed the arrests and launched an investigation into the alleged preparation of a terrorist act, as well as the illegal possession and production of explosives and explosive devices.
According to a Telegram post by the FSB, two of the suspects purchased components for a bomb, and one of them built a bomb and a detonator on their own. One of the accomplices was found to be carrying the bomb in their backpack when arrested.
