Tech Stocks Surge US Markets Waver

US stock markets presented a mixed performance Thursday, concluding with divergent results across key indices. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined, settling at 44,694 points, representing a 0.7% decrease from the previous day’s close.

In contrast, the broader S&P 500 edged upward, closing at 6,363 points, a gain of 0.1%. The Nasdaq Composite outperformed, with the Nasdaq 100 index closing at 23,220 points, demonstrating a positive increase of 0.3%.

Within the technology sector, some stocks reached record highs. This movement coincided with the release of fresh data from Alphabet, Google’s parent company, which indicated robust demand within the artificial intelligence sector. The figures seemed to bolster investor confidence in existing technological advancements.

The euro experienced slight depreciation Thursday evening, trading at $1.1762, equivalent to €0.8502 per dollar.

Gold prices also weakened, with a fine ounce fetching $3,371, a decrease of 0.4%, or €92.14 per gram.

Conversely, oil prices saw a significant rise. Brent crude, a benchmark North Sea variety, reached $69.35 per barrel by Thursday evening, a rise of $0.84, or 1.2% compared to the previous trading day’s close.
