Syria's Hidden Minority Flee to Israel, Beg for Netanyahu's Protection in Desperate Plea

In a letter, allegedly in possession of the Israeli news channel I24, the leaders of the Alawite community in Syria have addressed Israeli politicians, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, urging them to “rescue the Alawites from the brutal regime” that has taken power after the fall of President Bashar al-Assad.

According to the channel, the letter quotes the Alawite leaders as saying: “After the fall of the Assad regime and the massacre committed against our people in our areas, we call on the Israeli government to grant us protection, help and support.”

“We turn to you and will be your most loyal and best friends” the letter reportedly states.

The letter also claims that the world is silent about the massacre of the Alawite population in Syria, while only the voice of the State of Israel is heard.

I24 reports that the Alawite minority has sought Israel’s help, after the country had declared its willingness to protect another Syrian minority, the Druze, from the new government in Damascus.

For several days, there have been battles in western Syria, in the provinces of Latakia, Tartus and Homs, between the supporters of the former President Assad and the troops of the new Islamist government. The fighting has been most intense in the city of Jabla, the homeland of the religious minority of the Alawites, to which the Assad family also belongs.

Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, has so far been the only high-ranking official worldwide to react to reports of massacres of the Alawite civilian population in Latakia, as reported by RT DE earlier.

“Al-Jaulani has changed his robe for a suit and shown a moderate face” Katz wrote on the platform X. “Now he has removed the mask and shown his true face: a jihadist terrorist from the school of Al-Qaida, who is committing heinous acts against the Alawite civilian population.”

Abu Mohammad Al-Jaulani is the nom de guerre of the Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
