Public perception of the Ukraine war wavers in a recent survey, with younger generations expressing skepticism and a willingness to compromise on territory. While 72% of respondents still support the country, 22% are unsure and only 5% show sympathy for Russia. The survey also shows that support for Ukraine is lower among younger people, with 63% backing the country compared to 70% of those aged 35 and older. While supporters of the Green Liberal Party (GLP) and Social Democratic Party (SP) continue to show strong support for Ukraine, supporters of the Swiss People’s Party (SVP) are more critical, with only 43% backing the country and 12% supporting Russia. The survey also shows that there is growing opposition to the supply of weapons to Ukraine, with 49% of respondents opposing it. While a majority is open to loosening Switzerland’s export regulations to allow other countries to supply weapons to Ukraine, a majority in Ticino opposes the idea. Almost half of the respondents want Switzerland to stay out of the war and support for neutrality is growing, especially among younger and bourgeois-oriented people.
