The hostage-taking in a bank branch in Rimbach in the Bergstraße district of southern Hesse has come to a bloodless end on Tuesday.
According to the police, the 36-year-old suspect was taken into custody by special forces at 11 am without resistance. The 21-year-old bank employee, who was held by the suspect in the meantime, is reportedly unharmed and was initially in the police’s care and custody.
The perpetrator had gained access to the bank in the morning at 8 am. It is currently believed that he threatened the bank employee with a tool and held her against her will. The investigations into the exact background are still ongoing.
