VfB Stuttgart has secured the return of Portuguese forward Tiago Tomas from fellow Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg. The club announced the signing Saturday evening, ahead of their Supercup match against Bayern Munich.
Tomas is no stranger to the Stuttgart faithful, having previously played for the club from February 2022 to May 2023. The 23-year-old attacker has signed a contract that extends until June 30, 2029 and will wear the number eight shirt. He is scheduled to join his teammates for training Sunday morning.
“I am incredibly happy to be able to play for VfB again in the future” Tomas stated. “I am very pleased that the transfer worked out and I’m looking forward to the whole team. VfB has developed enormously since my first time here. I want to contribute to achieving our new goals with my performance and be successful together.
Christian Gentner, Sporting Director at VfB, commented on the acquisition: “Tiago brings many qualities with him; he is fast, a strong dribbler and has excellent technique. With these skills, he not only fits very well with our playing philosophy, but will make our attacking area even more versatile and therefore more effective”.
