A 42-year-old man who drove into a group of people in Stuttgart on Friday evening, resulting in seven injuries and one death, has been released. After consulting with the Stuttgart State Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect was released on Saturday, according to the police. Initial findings suggest that the man’s Mercedes G-Class vehicle, for an unknown reason, veered off the road and struck a pedestrian bridge at a tram stop around 17:50 on Friday. This resulted in eight injured pedestrians, three of whom were seriously injured. The 46-year-old woman who was severely injured passed away at the hospital. The other two severely injured individuals have since been out of danger. The police had already stated early on that it was unlikely to be an act of terrorism. However, the State Prosecutor’s Office is currently investigating the suspect for the suspicion of negligent homicide and negligent bodily injury.
