Consumer Prices in Germany Stabilize in February 2025
The annual increase in consumer prices in Germany has leveled off in February 2025, according to the Federal Statistical Office, which announced the data on Friday. The inflation rate is expected to be 2.3 percent, the same as in January and slightly lower than the 2.6 percent recorded in December. Compared to the previous month, consumer prices are expected to have risen by 0.4 percent in the second month of the year.
The more meaningful core inflation rate, often referred to as the core inflation, which excludes food and energy, is expected to have fallen from 2.9 percent in January to 2.6 percent. This rate remains higher than the overall index.
Energy prices were lower in December than in the same month the previous year, with a decline of 1.8 percent. The price increase for food was 2.4 percent in the year-over-year comparison. Prices for services rose by 3.8 percent.
