FC St. Pauli Secures Key Defender with Contract Extension
The Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli has announced a premature extension of the contract for central defender Hauke Wahl. The agreement will see the 31-year-old remain with the club beyond the 2025/26 season, further solidifying his commitment to the team.
Wahl joined FC St. Pauli from Holstein Kiel in the 2023/24 season, playing a pivotal role in the club’s successful promotion to the Bundesliga. To date, he has made 77 competitive appearances for the club, including 37 in the top division. Remarkably, he has missed only two games across his two seasons with the team.
“Hauke is an important factor for our club as a leader” stated club Sporting Director Andreas Bornemann in a released statement. Head Coach Alexander Blessin also lauded Wahl’s reliability and consistent performance.
Addressing his future with the club, Wahl expressed his ambition to contribute to FC St. Pauli’s continued success in the Bundesliga. He stated his intention to dedicate his efforts to ensuring the club maintains its top-flight status.
