In a thrilling Europa League final, Tottenham Hotspur emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Manchester United, thanks to a fortuitous own goal by Luke Shaw in the 42nd minute.
The match began with both teams displaying a high tempo, but neither could capitalize on their early chances. Manchester United dominated possession, with around 70% of the ball, but struggled to create clear-cut opportunities. Tottenham, on the other hand, retreated further back after taking the lead and employed a compact defensive setup, repeatedly disrupting Manchester United’s combination play with interruptions.
Micky van de Ven’s timely intervention on the left flank in the early minutes of the second half prevented a near-certain goal, while Joshua Zirkzee and Amad Diallo’s swift combinations caused unease for the Tottenham defense.
