SPD Warns of Unlawful Asylum Rejections

Berlin’s Administrative Court Ruling on Asylum Seekers Raises Concerns of Legal Certainty

The chair of the Social Democratic Party’s (SPD) parliamentary faction in the German Federal Constitutional Court, Carmen Wegge, has expressed concerns over the lack of legal certainty following the Berlin Administrative Court’s decision to reject asylum applications at the borders.

In an interview with the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland”, Wegge emphasized the importance of upholding the decision, stating, “Our stance is clear: we need legal certainty for the Federal Police and have always maintained that the actions at the borders must be in line with European law.”

Wegge called on the Interior Minister to work with legal and interior policymakers and ministers to investigate the matter and ensure a legally sound solution.
