SPD Warns of "Burning the Fossil of Tomorrow

In a recent debate on the debt brake, SPD party official Saskia Esken warned of the consequences of neglecting investments for future generations. She countered the notion that taking on debt is a sin, instead arguing that it is the opposite. “If the ceiling starts crumbling in schools in the future, we will be guilty of that” Esken told Watson News on Thursday.

Esken also emphasized the importance of good education policy in attracting young voters back to democratic parties, such as the SPD. She believed that ensuring students feel “well taken care of” and “don’t fall through the cracks” is crucial. The SPD aims to alleviate the uncertainty of young people with “responsible politics”.

However, Esken showed no understanding for the decision of “adults who give their vote to parties that see the salvation of the country in the exclusion of minorities”. She categorically rejected the notion that the SPD has shifted to the right on issues such as migration. “One thing is clear: the left exists in the SPD, the right does not” Esken stated.
