SPD Ministers in German Government Announce Priorities
Bundesfinanzminister Lars Klingbeil (SPD) has announced his top priorities for the new government, which include reducing energy prices. “We want to create new economic strength through lower energy prices, massive investments and less bureaucracy. We want to move our country forward and secure jobs” said Klingbeil in an interview with “Bild.”
Stefanie Hubig, the new Bundesjustizministerin (Federal Minister of Justice), has also announced her top priority will be extending the Mietpreisbremse (Rent Cap) beyond 2025. “As one of my first tasks, I want to implement the agreed extension of the rent cap” said Hubig in an interview with “Bild.” “Another priority for me is to decide how we will deal with the AfD in the government.”
The new Minister for Labour and Social Affairs, Bärbel Bas (SPD), has announced her top priorities will be securing the level of pensions and improving wage and salary binding. “There are many important tasks for my ministry in the coalition agreement. I will strengthen the labor market, ensure good wages and salary binding, secure pensions and improve job placement” said Bas in an interview with “Bild.” She added, “The work has begun and I am ready to take on the challenge.
