Spanish prosecutors have formally charged a man suspected of murdering a confidential informant for the Frankfurt police. Tolga S., along with three alleged accomplices, is accused of fatally shooting the victim, Aleksandar K., in southern Spain in June 2022, according to an indictment cited by the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” (FAZ).
The charges against the 34-year-old German national also include membership in a criminal organization and illegal possession of firearms. The 33-year-old Serbian victim, Aleksandar K., was found dead in a holiday resort in Marbella. Subsequent investigations and legal proceedings revealed his involvement in international drug trafficking prior to his death. He had also been working as an informant for the Frankfurt police precinct for several years.
The murder gained considerable attention in Germany. Tolga S. was arrested in Turkey in early 2024 and subsequently extradited to Spain, where he has been held in custody. A suspected co-conspirator, Muhamed Said Ö., is reportedly incarcerated in Germany. He was recently sentenced by the Cologne Regional Court to nearly ten years in prison for drug trafficking.
Spanish authorities have reportedly requested his extradition. Two other suspects named in the Spanish indictment are currently at large. According to the FAZ, the Spanish prosecutor’s office, in its indictment dated May 31st of this year, stated that Tolga S. and his accomplices had been engaged in “criminal activities” that led to issues with Aleksandar K.
Consequently, the men allegedly agreed to carry out an attack on him. They reportedly confronted him on the afternoon of June 29, 2022, in front of the holiday apartment in Marbella and entered the premises together. Inside, the accused, according to the prosecution, allegedly assaulted Aleksandar K. and bound him to a chair. They then allegedly fired three shots at the victim. The shots struck Aleksandar K. in the chest, neck and head, leaving him with no chance to defend himself, according to the FAZ.
The FAZ was unable to locate Tolga S.’s lawyer in Spain. Muhamed Said Ö.’s German lawyer declined to comment on the allegations when contacted by the newspaper. The Marbella Prosecutor’s Office is seeking a life sentence for Tolga S. in its indictment, as well as financial compensation to the victim’s family – 45,000 euros each for his father and mother and 100,000 euros for his wife.
