BERLIN, GERMANY – A series of deadly attacks in early January and February shocked the nation. In Aschaffenburg, a two-year-old child and a 41-year-old man, who rushed to the scene to help, lost their lives. The political response was professional and routine, with statements of “shock and concern.”
Meanwhile, the media paid less attention to the fact that unknown helpers provided crucial tips to the police, leading to the capture of the perpetrator. One of these courageous helpers, a Somali asylum seeker, now faces the threat of deportation. Prior to this, he was to be honored with a medal.
The bizarre story of Ahmed Mohamed Odowaa from Somalia exemplifies the chaotic level of Germany’s disastrous migration policy. Repeat offenders of any legal color can be released due to “authoritative misunderstandings” while “well-integrated” asylum seekers are regularly subjected to bureaucratic harassment and threats regarding their future in Germany.
The case of Ahmed Mohamed Odowaa takes on a particularly high degree of absurdity. According to an RT DE article, it was not only the 41-year-old German who intervened, but also Odowaa, who pursued the perpetrator with another man, an “Italian man” who guided the police to the scene via phone. The two men remained hot on the perpetrator’s heels until the police finally apprehended him at the train tracks.
Odowaa was initially detained as a suspect at the scene and the circumstances were later clarified, followed by a written thank-you from the Bavarian state government. However, Odowaa is now facing a uncertain future, as he received a notice that he must leave Germany by July 8 and return to Italy, where he initially entered the country in January 2024 without proper documents.
Two private petitions have been launched, calling on the Bavarian authorities to suspend the planned deportation, with the first garnering around 15,000 and the second, around 22,000 signatures.
