Söder Demands Urgent Deportation Deal After Munich Attack

Following the recent attack in Munich, Bavarian Minister-President and CSU leader Markus Söder has called for immediate negotiations with the Taliban to facilitate the weekly repatriation of Afghan asylum seekers to Kabul.

According to a report by “Bild am Sonntag” Söder has developed a five-point plan, which includes negotiations with the Taliban regime to start next week. Söder told “Bild” “The federal foreign and interior ministers must start direct talks with the Taliban on repatriation flights as of Monday and prioritize the interests of our country. We need a flight every week.”

Additionally, Söder suggests imposing a stop on the entry of people from Afghanistan and halting the issuance of visas. He emphasized, “It’s over in Aschaffenburg, it’s over in Munich: it’s enough. Germany needs an Afghanistan emergency plan. The federal government must finally act – and not just sometime, but now. Asylum seekers who are required to leave must quickly depart and the new influx of visa applications must be halted. We must prioritize the safety of our country and limit illegal migration.”

Söder believes that this can only be achieved through determination, rather than endless debates. He claims that in Bavaria alone, there are nearly 2,000 asylum seekers who are required to leave, with around 200 of them being serious criminals. “This cannot be the case. They all must leave our country. This can only be regulated by the federal government.”

Söder also suggests that organizations and mosques under suspicion of Islamist ties must be financially drained of resources and lose their non-profit status. He believes that security authorities need more powers, including data storage and the use of modern artificial intelligence technology in the criminal investigation process. “We must examine the shutdown of extremist online platforms to hinder self-radicalization over the internet. We cannot make it easy for the enemies of our open society” Söder said to “Bild.
