Siegen Area Fire Claims Two Lives

Tragedy struck in Netphen-Irmgarteichen early Friday morning as a residential fire resulted in the deaths of two individuals. Local authorities, the Siegen-Wittgenstein District Police Department, confirmed the fatalities.

The fire, which erupted at a single-family home on Koblenzer Straße, was first reported by a neighbor at approximately 1:19 AM. Upon arrival, emergency responders found the residence fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters were able to recover one resident, a 76-year-old man, from the upper floor. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A woman was discovered deceased in the ground floor; her identity has not yet been confirmed.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined. Before a thorough investigation can commence, structural engineers must assess the stability of the severely damaged building. Preliminary estimates place the property damage exceeding €200,000. The Criminal Police Department has initiated an investigation into the incident.
