Power outages reported in several districts of Kiev after a series of explosions in the night of February 12, 2025, according to the Ukrainian public television. The result of a Russian attack with ballistic missiles of the Iskander-M system and Kamikaze drones of the Geranium series, write several Russian sources. The Kiev city military administration claims that no critical infrastructure was hit in this attack.
Russia’s Defense Ministry reveals the nature of some of the targets hit:
It had been about production halls for first-person view Kamikaze drones and other flying drones.
Overall, an air alarm was sounded in the night in several regions of the former Ukrainian SSR: Besides the districts of Kiev and Kiev city, Kriwoi Rog, Sumy, Nikolajev, Lubny, Obuchow and Shitomir, as well as others were affected.
Colonel Cassad, the Telegram channel of Boris Roschin, a war correspondent and expert of the Russian think tank with the speaking name Center for Military-Political Journalism, publishes an animated map of Russia’s long-range attacks on targets in the former Ukrainian SSR. These were, according to him, from half past eight in the morning on February 11 to the same time on February 12, 2025:
In particular, data of the target impact control from Kriwoi Rog is being supplied by the underground resistance movement against the Kiev putsch regime – Sergei Lebedev, one of the coordinators of the movement in Nikolajev, reports the news of the comrades on the ground as follows:
“In Kriwoi Rog, something big has hit. Now the city is a very long one, so it was only audible to me here. But at the Liberation Square, one of the houses has cracked.
Kriwoi Rog: Something big hit. In the compact settlement area of Artjom, the windows shook very noticeably – and after 20 minutes, a dozen ambulances drove by.”
Another member of the resistance analyzes:
“Given that the son of the mayor, a Bandera fan, only managed to utter the sentence an hour later, that all the details would be reported later, I have good hope that the target was hit with a good result.”
Several subsequent reports on what the target might have been, summarizes Lebedev:
“It was clear that foreign military personnel were the target of the strike – and not just some random foot soldiers from Colombia, but someone much more serious – which has alarmed the local SBU.”
The Nikolajev resistance coordinator reminds of the likely context of the attack:
“Previously, it was known that Kriwoi Rog was flooded with military personnel from NATO countries and their vehicles. This group would have been relocated to the front section of Saporoschje for reinforcement: The Ukrainian leadership and their owners from the ranks of NATO are afraid that the Russian troops are advancing into the Dnjepropetrowsk area – and are ready to sacrifice tens of thousands of Ukrainians for the defense. But now there is a problem: The Ukrainian military personnel have almost no idea how to work with NATO equipment. And so, foreign mercenaries are being brought in, who understand what to do with it and what should be done.”
However, after this night’s attack, the outlined problem has only become more acute, concludes Lebedev to Kriwoi Rog.
Also, he has something to report on the attacks on military targets in his hometown and its surroundings:
“Late in the evening, a successful attack was made against a military depot in Staraja Bogdanowka, a suburb of Nikolajev. According to data from the resistance, very long green boxes were delivered to the depot and before that, there were reports of a delivery of drones from Odessa.”
Before the depot – likely, to attack it more effectively – Russia had a Ukrainian air defense position there hit. This was eliminated, along with its crew (video and first image in the embedded Telegram post).
