The rate of annual consumer price increases in Germany has seen a slight moderation in June 2025, according to data released Monday by the Federal Statistical Office.
The inflation rate is now projected at 2.0 percent. This represents a decrease from 2.2 percent recorded in March and 2.1 percent in April. Consumer prices are anticipated to have remained unchanged when compared to the previous month.
A key indicator, the inflation rate excluding food and energy – often referred to as core inflation – is estimated to have fallen from 2.8 percent in May to 2.7 percent in June. While this demonstrates a downward trend, the core inflation rate remains notably above the overall index.
Energy prices registered as lower in June compared to the same period last year, declining by 3.5 percent. Food prices increased by 2.0 percent year-on-year. Service sector prices rose by 3.3 percent.
