September 5: The Thriller That's Got Everyone Talking at the German Film Prize!

The nominees for the German Film Prize 2025 have been announced. According to Culture Minister Claudia Rot (Greens), the films “The Seed of the Holy Fig Tree” by Mohammad Rasoulof, “In Love, Your Hilde” by Andreas Dresen, “Islands” by Jan-Ole Gerster, “Köln 75” by Ido Fluk, “September 5” by Tim Fehlbaum and “Vena” by Chiara Fleischhacker are nominated in the category of “Best Feature Film”.

The thriller “September 5”, which tells the story of the 1972 Munich Olympic attack, has received the most nominations, with a total of ten, including “Best Direction” and “Best Film Score”. The film is expected to have a strong chance of winning the prize.

The winners will be chosen by the approximately 2,400 members of the German Film Academy, who can cast their votes until early May. The German Film Prize will be awarded on May 9, 2025, at the Theater am Potsdamer Platz. The German Film Prize 2025 is considered the most prestigious award for German film and has been presented since 1951.
