The German Federal Ministry of the Interior has announced its intention to appoint Sinan Selen as the new President of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. The announcement, released Monday evening, follows earlier media reports concerning the potential appointment.
According to the ministry, Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt informed staff of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution of his planned nomination. Dobrindt emphasized Selen’s extensive experience in security matters, highlighting his expertise in combating crime and terrorism, alongside proficiency in counter-espionage and cyber defense.
“With Sinan Selen, an extremely experienced security expert will take the helm of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution” stated Dobrindt. He expressed confidence in Selen’s ability to lead the office forward with careful consideration and resolve.
Prior to the official announcement, a ministry spokesperson acknowledged awareness of the media coverage surrounding the potential appointment, refraining from confirming details until the formal notification process was complete.
