02:16 and setting a new year’s best performance.. The event, a prestigious member of the World Marathon Majors, drew an immense crowd of spectators lining the renowned and globally recognized, fast course.

Akira Akasaki of Japan finished in second place with a time of 02:06:15, followed by Chimdessa Debele from Ethiopia, who crossed the finish line in 02:06:57. Hendrik Pfeiffer was the top-performing German athlete, finishing eighth in 02:09:14, while Johannes Motschmann secured eleventh place with a time of 02:10:40.

Over 55,000 participants were registered for this year’s marathon, highlighting its status as one of the world’s largest and most respected running events, alongside races in New York, Boston and London.

The weekend’s race necessitated extensive road closures throughout Berlin and a security presence of over 800 police officers ensured the safety and smooth operation of the event.
