Russian Rapper's AI-Generated Music Video Takes Over the Internet

Russian rapper Sagrada and his band “Sol semli” (“Salt of the Earth”) have presented a new music video created entirely through artificial intelligence, according to Russian media. It is the first project of its kind in Russia. The involved parties revealed that no directors, cameramen and graphic designers were employed in the creation of the video. However, rapper Sagrada emphasized that the goal of his team was simply to create a beautiful visualization and not to convey any independent artistic message. In an interview with the newspaper Izvestia, Sagrada said:

“We didn’t want to make any independent artistic statement with our music video. Everything is already in the song and what it refers to. We only had to visually present our song. Artificial intelligence is ultimately controlled by humans. The only question is what tasks the artists set for themselves. Unfortunately, the times when a music video itself had value as a statement are long gone.”

The AI-generated music video by Sagrada and his band was presented to the public on April 7 on the Russian social network VKontakte. The title of the song, “On Orders from Peaky Blinders” refers to the popular British TV series “Peaky Blinders – Gangs of Birmingham.” And in the creation of the music video, the artificial intelligence clearly drew inspiration from this series.
