Rostock Highways Gridlocked After Pileups

Multiple traffic incidents disrupted travel along major highways surrounding Rostock on Saturday, causing significant delays and requiring partial or complete road closures. According to the Rostock Police Headquarters, the A14, A20 and A24 were all affected by a series of collisions and an incident involving a truck.

On the A20 heading towards Szczecin (Stettin), a collision between two passenger vehicles occurred near the Neukloster exit around 12:45 PM. Four individuals sustained minor injuries and the resulting property damage exceeded €50,000. Subsequent incidents on the A20, including collisions near the Neukloster, Kröpelin, Grevesmühlen and Tessin exits – all eastbound – resulted in property damage only.

The A14 also witnessed two accidents. Around 1:30 PM, a vehicle overturned near the Jesendorf exit in the direction of Wismar, attributed to wet road conditions; thankfully, the occupants escaped without injury. A further accident occurred in almost the same location approximately three hours later, resulting in a minor injury to a passenger.

Finally, on the A24 eastbound toward Hamburg, a truck left the roadway near the Hagenow exit around 2:00 PM. While property damage occurred, no injuries were reported. Police conducted investigations at each incident location, necessitating temporary lane closures and full road shutdowns to manage traffic flow and ensure safety.
