Rossmann's Shocking Call for a New Era of Corporate Taxes

German retail chain executive calls for corporate tax reform, citing progressive taxation model.

Raoul Roßmann, the head of the Rossmann drugstore chain, has spoken out in support of a corporate tax reform, as the new coalition government comprising the Union and SPD parties begins its term. In an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Roßmann, 39, the son of the chain’s founder Dirk Roßmann, advocated for a progressive corporate tax system, where the tax rate increases in proportion to a company’s profit.

This stance fuels the ongoing debate on the fair taxation of businesses and wealth. Roßmann’s proposal diverges from a wealth tax, which he has rejected, citing the importance of successful entrepreneurs, including billionaires, for a country’s prosperity.
